📜When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. “Come on,” they said, “make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt Exodus 32:1 (NLT)
📋The story of the Israelites in the wilderness portrays the human heart in diverse ways. God had led them from Egypt and had always provided for them, but their hearts were focused on the physical more than the divine. When Moses went to meet God, his delay was interpreted to be their being abandoned by Moses and God. They clamoured for their own god and under popular pressure, Aaron made the idol for them. When God’s in charge, his people are led. When they are in charge, his people wander. We need to be like sailors on the sea who trust the wind to blow into their sails as they make little effort to keep pace with the wind. Following God is like being carried by his wind. Jesus told Peter that, when he is mature, someone will clothe him and lead him about because the wind blows where it wills although one cannot tell from where it is coming. Are you a self-led person or God-led? Let God lead and carry you on your way.
🛐Meditation And Prayer: Lord, teach my heart to learn how to wait for you in full trust of your faithfulness.
