REV. DR. YOHANES KWASI AHIABU SYNOD CLERK

Rev. Dr. Yohanes Kwasi Ahiabu was born on the 24th of February, 1966 at Mafi-Deveme near Mafi-Kumase in the Volta Region of Ghana to Mr. Kofi Azieti Ahiabu of Mafi-Deveme and Madam Amevi Akpene Asiegbor of Mafi-Asiegborkope, both of blessed memory. Rev. Dr. Ahiabu was baptized into the E. P. Church at a tender age of 13 and has since remained in the faith.

Educational Background

He started his elementary education at Mafi-Mediage L/A Primary School in 1976, and continued at Mafi-Mawoekpor, Mafi-Kpedzeglo and finally completed his primary education at Mafi-Sasekpe E. P. Primary School in 1982. He completed his Middle School education at Mafi-Sasekpe in 1986, where he served as the School Prefect. In 1987, Rev. Dr. Ahiabu got enrolled at Tema Community Seven No.1 Middle School Form Four which enabled him to achieve his dream of entering Tema Secondary School, the same year. Rev. Dr. Ahiabu pursued and completed his G.C. E. O’ and ‘A’ Levels education in Science, in 1992 and 1994 respectively. While at Tema Secondary School, Rev. Dr. Ahiabu experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit during a Scripture Union meeting which birthed in him deep love for Christ and a strong passion for leading people to Christ. As a result, he chose to pursue a career in ministry and theology, rather than Science, after his national service. He subsequently completed a three-year study at Victory International School of Ministry in 1999 and continued with a two-year Diploma in Theology and Biblical Studies at the Christian Service University College in 2001. Later, he pursued a three-year Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Study of Religions and Psychology and Master of Philosophy Degree in Religions with a focus on Church history and Christian mission at the University of Ghana. He completed these programmes in 2008 and 2013 respectively. He participated in the Haggai Institute’s Advanced Leadership Training Programme in Hawaii USA in 2008. Rev. Dr. Ahiabu enrolled at the Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission and Culture and completed in 2020 with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Theology.

Career and Work

As a gifted teacher, Rev. Dr. Ahiabu after ‘A’ Level education in Science, taught, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science, English and Technical Drawing at the Gold Coast DC Camp Junior Secondary School in the Assin-Foso District of the Central Region of Ghana for his National Service in 1995. He worked briefly with Acrow-Engineering Services at Tema Oil Refinery, before gaining employment with Datus Complex Schools at Tema, where he taught from 1996 to 1999. Later, he applied to be trained as a pastor of the then E.P. Church of Ghana (now Global Evangelical Church). Rev. Dr. Ahiabu also served both as a member of the Academic Board and the Governing Council of GTS, and as a member of faculty from 2009 to 2021. He was a radio and TV evangelist for several years before starting the “All for Christ Miracle Crusade”, an outreach ministry which seeks to bring people to the saving knowledge of Christ in 2009, which has brought many souls to the Kingdom of God.

Christian Ministry

Rev. Dr. Ahiabu, was called to pastoral ministry in 1999 and after a two-year training programme at the then Christian Service College (now Christian Service University College) at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, he was commissioned as a pastor of the Global Evangelical Church in 2001. He has since pastored the Battor-Mepe District of the E.P. Church of Ghana from 2001 to 2005, the Ashongman Estates congregation from 2005 to 2008 and Adonai Chapel, Madina congregation from 2008 to 2016. Before his election to the position of the Synod Clerk of the Global Evangelical Church in August 2021, Rev. Dr. Ahiabu served as the pastor of the Global Evangelical Church, Yahweh Chapel, Lashibi since 2017.

Rev. Dr. Ahiabu has served the Church in various capacities. He was the Youth Ministry Coordinator of the Sogakope Presbytery for two years, Secretary of the Evangelism Committee of Accra Presbytery for three years and Accra Presbytery Coordinator on National Missions & Evangelism Committee for six years and later as Chairman of the same committee for seven years. He also served as Vice-Chairman and later Chairman of the Madina Zone of the Global Evangelical Church. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Synod Committee Appointee on the National Missions and Evangelism Committee, and later as a member of the International Missions and Evangelism Committee from 2020 to date. Rev. Dr. Ahiabu also served as the President of Pastors and Spouses Association in the Tema Presbytery from 2020 to 2021.

Family Life

Rev. Dr. Yohanes Kwasi Ahiabu is married to Mrs. Joyce Adzo Ahiabu and they have been blessed with four children Kekeli, Mawufemor, Elikem, and Mawuleagbe.

Rev. Dr. Yohanes Ahiabu has been elected as the Synod Clerk onto the Synod Committee Executive of the Global Evangelical Church to serve a six-year term.
